So Factsinabox lay dormant until the realisation came that the main aspect made possible through Factsinabox is not easily replicated on an app. Yes, apps can do other incredible things, but sometimes a bit of paper works wonders!
What are factsinabox?
Designed and written by teachers, they are an easy to use guide for pupils and parents, without falling into the trap of becoming an extra text-book.
The unique design of the cards and display case, enables ‘Facts in a Box’ to be available for use on the desktop, on the bedside table, whilst travelling or wherever and all without taking up too much space. And of course, they do not rely on a mobile device, battery life, internet or screen!
The only distraction they provide is the distraction of having a revision guide right in front all of the time.
As ‘Facts in a Box’ are easy to use, pupils are more likely to use them.
‘Facts in a Box’ aren’t books… as a completely unique concept, the reaction so far from pupils is…COOL! Again, if pupils like, them, they’ll use them.
Having ‘Facts in a Box’ easily to hand, increases the number of times pupils are faced with the essential facts of a subject. The more often this happens, the more likely it is that pupils remember those facts.
The cards can be used by pupils individually, for reference & for revision
‘Facts in a Box’ can be used as aids to lessons – for example, by nominating a ‘card of the week’ to support a particular topic.
What subject/age groups do they cover?
Currently just Maths and Science Key Stage 2. with more interest, KS4 can easily be built, but we envisage 'topic' factsinabox being created for older students.
For example, one for 'Number' another for 'Algebra', another for 'Shape' and so on.
